How do I know if my files are compliant?
- For the graphic creation of documents that will be printed, we strongly recommend the use of DTP (Desktop Publishing) software, such as the Adobe suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or other
equivalent applications.
- Office software from Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or other brands should be avoided.
- The files must be in the final format of the documents to be printed. A 3 mm bleed must be added as well as the cutting lines. This excess is removed at the cutting stage when the final format is trimmed, so that no white border appears on the edges of the document. Finally, the format must include a minimum internal margin of 5 mm from the cutting edge, a safety measure to ensure that no text is cut during trimming.
- For the very best results, the image files imported into the layout documents must be in high definition. They should therefore be saved as standard at a resolution of 300 dpi (pixels per inch). This is because a lower resolution affects the quality of the printed image by making it less precise. Finally, the imported image files and the colours from the swatches used must be converted into CMYK colour mode in accordance with the current FOGRA standard.
- Make sure that all fonts are included when you generate your PDF. In the case of non-insertable fonts, don’t forget to vectorise them.
- When exporting your page layout as a PDF, make sure you comply with the various criteria set out above by adding cut lines 5 mm from the finished format. You can also download and install our export settings for Adobe InDesign.
